How does the IDFC FIRST WOW credit card work?

You open a fixed deposit of ₹20,000 or more with IDFC FIRST Bank, and the bank places a lien on it as security for the card.

Against that deposit, you receive a credit card with a limit of up to 100% of the FD value — higher than the 75–90% most secured cards release.

The FD keeps earning interest the whole time, and you get free credit of up to 45 days on purchases.

Benefits of the IDFC FIRST WOW card

  • No income proof and no minimum CIBIL score required — the FD covers the bank’s risk.
  • Limit up to 100% of the deposit — among the highest ratios in the secured segment.
  • Lifetime free: no joining or annual fees.
  • Zero forex markup on international transactions.
  • 4X reward points on online and offline spends.
  • 1% fuel surcharge waiver, capped at ₹200 per month.
  • FD keeps earning interest while securing the card.

If you want credit without a strong score, compare WOW before applying elsewhere — and check how it feeds your CIBIL score month after month.

Does the WOW card check CIBIL or income?

The card is designed for applicants without credit history or documented income, so there is no minimum score requirement.

Standard KYC still applies — PAN, Aadhaar and the bank’s own verification — and issuance is never automatic or guaranteed.

What happens to the fixed deposit?

It stays in your name, under lien, earning normal FD interest for the whole life of the card.

You cannot withdraw it while the card is active; if dues stay unpaid for long, the bank can recover them from the deposit after notice.

What interest does the card charge?

Like any credit card, unpaid balances accrue finance charges — on the WOW they range from about 0.71% to 3.85% per month depending on your profile.

Pay the bill in full every month and you use the card at zero cost.

⚠️ Beware of “guaranteed approval” promises. Not even an FD-backed card is guaranteed before the bank’s own process, and nobody legitimate charges an upfront fee or asks for your OTP, UPI PIN or Aadhaar copy to “release” a card. That is how scams work in India.

How to apply for the IDFC FIRST WOW card?

Stop losing time with random applications — follow this order:

  1. Check the current specs on the official IDFC FIRST WOW page — deposit, limits and fees can change.
  2. Keep your PAN and Aadhaar ready for the digital KYC.
  3. Open the fixed deposit of ₹20,000 or more during the online application flow.
  4. Complete the video KYC or branch verification the bank asks for.
  5. Activate the card, set bill reminders, and keep usage below 30% of the limit.

The process is digital end-to-end and usually takes minutes when documents are in order.

After approval, the card works like any regular Visa/Mastercard — online, offline and abroad.

Is the IDFC FIRST WOW worth it?

For first-time cardholders and people rebuilding credit, it is one of the strongest secured options in India: lifetime free, full-value limit and zero forex markup.

The honest downside: ₹20,000 is a higher entry than some rivals — Kotak811 starts at ₹10,000 — and your money stays locked while the card is active.
